INTRODUCTION
Nothing like a dark, wet, cold autumn day to kick me into gear to starting a blog about…soup. Yes, the tummy-warming scrumptious and (less-intoxicating) liquid lunch. Now I know a lot of people are thoroughly underwhelmed by soup – upon suggesting my blog to my boyfriend his immediate response was: “Soup? Can’t you make a steak blog?” Men…
Anyway, soup has a bit of a sentimental value for me. It was
the first meal I ever learnt how to make. Mum took me through her gorgeous
pumpkin soup recipe (that will follow). The soup was delicious enough
to even turn my no-pumpkin-under-any-circumstances father into an orange-veggie
believer.
Soon after this culinary lesson I moved out, and well, let’s just say while
I’m still on the steep incline of a cooking learning curve, soup was my go-to
dish. There’s also something justifiable about it – what are all those soup
diets out there? Disclaimer right here, right now: I am not a dieter. I can
never refuse a bowl of ice cream or chocolate. While I strive to make my soups
healthy, this is not a diet.
Anyway, let’s have some fun. Let’s warm ourselves heading
into winter, and if you have any suggestions or favourite recipes you’d like me
to try, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
